Your Voice Matters: Community Healthcare Survey Now Open
Over the past few years, healthcare in Consort has gone through significant change. Some of that change has been positive, and we are deeply grateful to the healthcare providers who have chosen to call Consort home. Other areas remain more challenging, including the ongoing advocacy work to re-establish Emergency Department services, which is largely outside of local control.
To help us understand what is working, what isn’t, and what our community needs next, the Consort Medical Clinic and Medical Board have launched a 2026 Community Healthcare Survey, now open to all residents of Consort and the surrounding area.
This survey builds on the community survey completed in 2023 and is designed to help us compare where things were then and where we are now.
Why This Survey Is Important
Community feedback directly informs:
How clinic hours and services are structured
Where we focus improvement efforts (including wait times and access)
Advocacy work with Alberta Health Services and the province
Planning for additional services such as urgent care, mental health supports, diagnostics, and allied health
Decisions around expanding or renovating clinic space to support future growth
Acknowledging our Reality
We know people are frustrated. Wait times for clinic appointments can be longer than anyone would like. Emergency services have not yet returned, despite ongoing advocacy work and stakeholder meetings. Many residents are understandably tired of hearing “we’re working on it.”
This survey is not about pretending everything is perfect. It is about honestly measuring progress, identifying gaps, and giving our community a clear voice in what happens next.
Some things, like emergency department decisions, are outside local control. But how we plan, advocate, and build the next phase of healthcare in Consort is something your feedback directly influences.
Looking Ahead
Alongside this survey, work is underway on:
Continued recruitment of physicians and nurse practitioners
Exploring hybrid care models
Supporting additional healthcare professionals to establish services locally
Exploring the feasibility of a larger, more functional clinic space that can support expanded services, education, and innovative care models
Understanding whether the community supports these directions — and which services matter most — is a key reason this survey exists.
Who Should Complete the Survey
We want to hear from:
People who use the clinic regularly
People who receive care elsewhere
Families, seniors, caregivers, and young adults
Residents of Consort and the surrounding region
Every perspective matters.
How to Participate
The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. It is available online and in paper format.
The survey can be completed online by visiting rural-healthcare.ca/consort or by scanning the QR code.
For those who prefer a paper copy, printed surveys and confidential drop-boxes are available at the Village of Consort Office, the Consort Special Areas Office, the Post Office, the Consort Lodge, and the Consort Medical Clinic.
The survey will remain open until January 28, 2026.
Thank You
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their experience. Community input has already driven meaningful change in local healthcare, and it will continue to do so.
